Actor Sonu Sood is stepping into new shoes as he makes his debut as a director and writer for the high-octane thriller, ‘Fateh.’ The journey, which started in Amritsar last year, has now come full circle as the film is nearing release. Sonu promises jaw-dropping action sequences never seen before on Indian screens.
Sonu shares a special bond with Punjab and feels a surge of energy every time he visits. Speaking from Amritsar, he reflected on how dedicating three years to ‘Fateh’ stemmed from personal experiences. His work through his philanthropic foundation, often targeted by cyber fraud, inspired him to tackle the subject of cybercrime in the film.
“Over 40-50 FIRs have been lodged for scams in the name of our organization. It’s heartbreaking to see people falling into these traps, and I wanted to bring that to the forefront,” said Sonu. ‘Fateh’ uses its action-packed narrative to raise awareness about the growing menace of cyber scams that affect countless people.
The movie is being touted as a game-changer for Indian action cinema. Sonu roped in Hollywood’s Lee Whittaker, known for his work on ‘Fast and Furious 5’ and ‘X-Men,’ to choreograph intense stunt sequences. An international touch was added with an action team from Mexico and Grammy-winning vocalist Loire Cotler writing a song for the film.
However, Sonu clarifies that ‘Fateh’ won’t follow the clichéd, over-the-top action style. Instead, audiences can expect raw, nail-biting, and realistic stunts. “We’ve even got a single-shot action sequence that will leave viewers stunned,” he said, adding that 2025 will see Indian action films making Hollywood take notice.
Off-screen, Sonu stays busy with his charity initiatives and continues to steer clear of politics. “Politics can wait. There’s so much I still want to create and do without stepping into politics,” he openly admitted. For now, his focus remains on entertaining audiences while striving to make a difference.
The buzz around ‘Fateh’ is palpable, and it’s set to be a thrilling ride. Will Sonu’s directorial debut set a new benchmark for Indian cinema? Fans can barely wait.
