Scarlett Eyes Marvel Directing Gig After Cannes Success

Scarlett Johansson may be ready to trade her Black Widow suit for a director’s chair in the Marvel universe. After showing off her first directed film, Eleanor the Great, at Cannes 2025, she hinted at wanting to direct a Marvel movie someday.

The new film, Eleanor the Great, was well received. At the premiere, the audience gave Johansson a five-minute standing ovation.

She walked the red carpet with her husband, comedian Colin Jost, and called the Cannes moment a ‘dream come true.’

Johansson spoke about her love for action movies that also show human emotions—something Marvel fans already know she can pull off on screen.

She played Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, in eight Marvel films from 2010 to 2021. So, she knows her way around superhero blockbusters.

For now, Johansson is focused on Eleanor the Great but left the Marvel door wide open. Fans may just see her name in the credits not as a star, but as the one calling the shots next time.
