 Indian Films Shine at Asian Film Awards 2025

Indian cinema had a big night at the Asian Film Awards 2025. Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine As Light’ won Best Film, while actress Shahana Goswami and director Sandhya Suri also took home trophies. The event was held at Xiqu Centre in Hong Kong.

The award winners were announced on the official website of the Asian Film Awards. ‘All We Imagine As Light’ triumphed over strong contenders from China, South Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong. This film has been making waves globally after winning the Grand Prix at Cannes last year.

Shahana Goswami won Best Actress for her role in ‘Santosh’. The film tells the story of a widowed housewife who takes up her late husband’s police job and gets drawn into a murder case.

Director Sandhya Suri won Best New Director for ‘Santosh’, marking a major win for the India-UK-France-Germany co-production. She beat nominees from Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Other Best Actress nominees included Kani Kusruti, Sylvia Chang, Kawai Yuumi, and Kim Go-eun. In the Best New Director category, notable contenders included Yamanaka Yoko and Truong Minh Quý.

This year’s awards showcased the growing global recognition of Indian films. With these wins, Indian cinema continues to make its mark on the world stage.
