Bengaluru Police Stop Ed Sheeran’s Street Gig

British singer Ed Sheeran’s surprise street performance in Bengaluru was cut short by police on Sunday morning. The cops halted the gig, claiming he didn’t have the necessary permissions. Sheeran, however, later said he and his team did have the approval to perform.

Sheeran was midway through singing ‘Shape of You’ on Church Street when a policeman unplugged his microphone. The singer had planned to perform more songs but was stopped after just one. Videos of the moment quickly went viral online.

A senior police official stated that Sheeran lacked permission, and they had received a public nuisance complaint. Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan backed the police, saying even global stars must follow local rules.

Fans had gathered excitedly to watch Sheeran, who had performed a major concert the night before. Many were disappointed when authorities pulled the plug on the unexpected mini-show.

Sheeran took to Instagram later, clarifying that the street performance was pre-planned. He assured fans that all was well and reminded them of his next concert in the city that night.

The singer is currently touring India as part of his Mathematics Tour. Despite the setback, Bengaluru fans got a brief, unforgettable street performance from a global superstar.
