Bollywood icon Akshay Kumar is officially the central figure in Maddock Films’ growing horror-comedy universe. Producer Dinesh Vijan revealed this exciting detail at the trailer launch event for the upcoming movie “Sky Force.” Fans were thrilled when Vijan referred to Akshay as their very own “Thanos,” referencing Marvel’s iconic supervillain.
Akshay’s impactful cameo in 2024’s blockbuster “Stree 2” introduced him as the descendant of the film’s antagonist, Sarkata. This clever character connection left fans speculating about his return. At the event, Vijan teased that Akshay’s role will indeed expand, saying, “You didn’t see the last shot.”
Currently, Akshay stars in Maddock’s “Sky Force,” co-produced by Vijan and “Stree 2” director Amar Kaushik. The movie adds another feather to the actor’s cap as he firmly anchors Maddock’s horror-comedy franchise.
When asked about his future involvement, Akshay kept it light and vague. “He (Vijan) will speak or she (Jyoti Deshpande, Jio Studios) will speak,” he joked, implying decisions are in the hands of the producers and studio heads.
“Stree 2” was a massive success, crossing Rs 800 crore globally. It reunited stars like Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, and Pankaj Tripathi, ensuring its place among Bollywood’s top earners of 2024.
Fans won’t have to wait too long for the next installment. Maddock Films has already announced “Stree 3,” set to release on August 13, 2027. With Akshay in the mix, audiences are in for plenty of chills and laughs.
