Shoojit Sircar Remembers Irrfan Khan with Love and Laughter

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar paid tribute to his close friend and actor Irrfan Khan on his fifth death anniversary. The director shared a heartfelt post remembering the late star, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 54 due to a rare cancer.

Though they worked together on just one film, ‘Piku’, Shoojit and Irrfan stayed close friends until the actor’s passing. The film is set for a re-release on May 9, stirring nostalgic emotions for fans and the director alike.

In his Instagram post, Shoojit spoke about missing their deep talks on life, spiritualism, and science. He wrote that Irrfan’s smile and mystical eyes are still fresh in his memory.

He also recalled simpler moments—like sharing jhal muri and laughs. Their bond, he said, was filled with warmth, wisdom, and an unmatched charm that Irrfan carried.

Shoojit mentioned he’s now close with Irrfan’s family and feels like a guardian to his son, Babil. He recently wrapped a project with Babil, who is slowly making his mark as an actor.

As ‘Piku’ nears its 10th anniversary in 2025, the memories of Irrfan continue to live strong. For Shoojit and many others, Irrfan remains loved, missed, and unforgettable.
