Actor Sheeba Chadha, known for films like “Badhaai Do” and “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” and web series like “Mirzapur,” believes there is little difference between working in movies and OTT shows. She says the only variation is the time given to actors to dive deeper into their roles.
Chadha explains that both industries share the same crew members, and while films have a fixed storyline, OTT gives actors more space to explore their characters. However, she adds that a well-written film role can be just as satisfying as a long-format series.
The versatile actor, who began her career with “Dil Se..” in 1998, has played key roles in several hits, including “Gully Boy” and “Raees.” Despite her experience, she says she doesn’t have any dream roles and selects projects based on their storyline and practical details like schedules and pay.
Alongside her work in films and OTT, Chadha has a strong background in theatre. However, she admits she hasn’t been able to invest time in stage performances due to her busy film and web commitments. She hopes to return to theatre in the future.
Chadha also shared her views on cinema, saying she wants to explore more Malayalam films. She appreciates the increasing access to regional cinema and believes all forms of cinema have a place in society.
On the portrayal of women in Indian films, she feels representation has improved over time but still has room for growth. She believes good storytelling goes beyond gender and depends on how immersed a filmmaker is in their narrative.
