Preity Zinta's Suit Tossed Out in Punjab Kings Dispute

A Chandigarh court has dismissed Bollywood actress Preity Zinta’s civil suit against her fellow Punjab Kings co-owners, Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia. Zinta wanted a company meeting held in April to be declared invalid.

She claimed the meeting broke company rules and the Companies Act. Zinta also tried to stop decisions made in the meeting and prevent a new director from taking over.

But the defence pushed back, arguing that the court had no right to hear the case. They said Zinta’s issues were more about internal company fights, which fall under the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).

The judge agreed and tossed out the case, citing lack of jurisdiction. The court said only NCLT can hear such matters under current corporate laws.

Zinta, who owns 23% of KPH Dream Cricket Pvt Ltd—owners of IPL team Punjab Kings—can still take her case to NCLT. The court gave her that option if she meets the required conditions.

For now, the April meeting decisions stay untouched. The boardroom drama might not be over yet, but it’s heading to a different stage.
