Bollywood star and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has donated ₹1.10 crore to the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA). This was done under their initiative ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The donation came from her share of the Punjab Kings’ CSR fund. It’s aimed at supporting Veer Naris and paying for their children’s education.
Preity attended a function in Jaipur for the announcement. Army families and officers from the South Western Command were also present.
She said it was a big honour to help families of fallen soldiers. She added that while the sacrifices of soldiers can’t be repaid, we can stand by their families.
Zinta praised India’s armed forces for keeping the nation safe. She also promised ongoing support for their welfare.
The AWWA thanked her for the generous gift. The money will be used to directly support families who’ve lost loved ones in service.
