Malayalam actress Maala Parvathi has taken a stand against online harassment. On Wednesday, she lodged a police complaint against an individual for making offensive comments about her on social media. She also targeted a YouTube channel for using still photos from her movies in a video without consent.
The cyber police registered a case last month based on the complaint. It was filed under Section 67 of the IT Act, and investigators are now working to gather details about the YouTube channel, according to sources.
Parvathi revealed that she had already provided her statement to a magistrate. She added that the case depends on YouTube officially sharing the accused’s details after receiving a court order.
The actress shared that she had also responded to the individual who posted the offensive remarks, alerting them about the police complaint filed against them. She emphasized that action against such behavior is necessary.
In her complaint, she explicitly called for measures against the YouTube channel for misusing pictures from her films, labeling it as a violation of her rights. Parvathi seems determined to push forward with the legal process.
This development comes on the heels of another case involving actress Honey Rose, who filed a sexual harassment complaint against businessman Boby Chemmanur. He was taken into custody by the Wayanad police the same day.
