Chandigarh’s Government Museum and Art Gallery is now bursting with color, thanks to artist Madan Lal’s new solo show, ‘Meadows of Lifescape’. Hosted in Sector 10, the exhibition runs until May 31 and is a treat for art lovers across the city.
Lal’s paintings celebrate nature, joy, and the beauty of everyday moments. Even when he paints migrants, he focuses on happiness—like the delight of an auto-rickshaw ride, which he compares to Noah’s Ark.
A parrot often pops up in his work, symbolizing the buzzing human mind and the soul inside us. His use of the deer chasing its own scent reminds us to look within for peace and happiness.
Fans of Indian mythology, Bulle Shah, and Sufi poetry will recognize familiar influences in his work. Phulkari patterns, cityscapes, and bold colors highlight both physical and spiritual life.
Some artworks turn moody too. A grayscale painting of a couple under an umbrella or a multi-season landscape from his Barahmas series shows his emotional range.
The exhibit also includes sculptures—mostly deer—and forms of yoga. Each piece feels personal, almost like Lal is talking to his own soul through art.
Don’t miss this journey of color, culture, and introspection running until the end of May.
