Lady Gaga just made music history in Brazil. She pulled in a jaw-dropping crowd of 2.5 million people for a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.
This was Gaga’s first show in Brazil in nearly 10 years. It became the most-attended concert by a female artist ever, smashing the previous record held by Madonna.
The pop icon opened with ‘Bloody Mary’ and performed a mix of fan favorites and tracks from her latest album, ‘Mayhem’. Fans came in droves, filling the beach to celebrate the return of Mother Monster.
On Instagram, Gaga shared an emotional message. She thanked Brazil for the love, calling the night “historic” and praising the country’s vibrant culture.
During the show, she told the massive crowd, “Tonight, we’re making history.” She added, “Your joy and spirit will be heard around the world tonight!”
The overall record for the biggest concert still belongs to Rod Stewart. But Gaga now holds the top spot for a female artist, and it’s safe to say she did it with style and heart.
