Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra’s shows are no longer on BookMyShow. Shiv Sena’s Rahool Kanal claimed the ticketing platform removed Kamra after recent controversy.
Kanal thanked BookMyShow’s CEO Ashish Hemrajani for keeping the platform ‘clean’. He said removing Kamra supports peace and public emotion.
BookMyShow did not confirm the removal, stating they had no comment for now. But Kanal’s letter strongly suggests the decision has been made.
Kamra has faced heat for a joke that appeared to target Eknath Shinde, sparking backlash from Shiv Sainiks. Some allegedly vandalized the venue where Kamra performed.
Police have sent three notices to Kamra, believed to be in Puducherry. He hasn’t responded yet.
Kanal said Mumbai respects art, but not when it’s used for personal agendas. The incident has once again raised debate over free speech and political sensitivity in comedy.
