Kangana Invites Priyanka Gandhi to Watch 'Emergency'

Actor Kangana Ranaut has extended a special invitation to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to watch her upcoming movie ‘Emergency’. The film, which hits screens on January 17, dives into the 21-month period from 1975 to 1977 when former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi imposed a state of emergency in India.

Kangana, who plays the role of Indira Gandhi, shared her experience of meeting Priyanka in Parliament. “I told her, ‘You should watch the emergency.’ She was very gracious and said, ‘Yeah, maybe,'” Kangana revealed while speaking to IANS.

The actress explained that her portrayal of Indira Gandhi focuses on dignity and depth. Through her research, she avoided sensationalism, choosing instead to highlight Indira Gandhi’s achievements and complex personality. “There’s so much more to a person than their relationships or controversies,” she added.

Kangana believes the film offers a balanced perspective, shedding light on a controversial yet significant period in Indian history. She emphasized that Indira Gandhi was not just a controversial figure but also a celebrated leader who served three terms as Prime Minister.

The actress hopes the film resonates with all audiences, including political figures, and encourages discussions about leadership and history. “Everyone should see this movie,” Kangana remarked confidently.

‘Emergency’ promises to be a gripping cinematic take on historical events and the life of one of India’s most prominent leaders.
