Jasbir Jassi Lights Up CIFF with Wit and Music

Jasbir Jassi knows how to hold a crowd. Whether singing or sharing his journey, he keeps everyone hooked with humor and charm.

At Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF), Jassi recalled his early days. He had to hide his tumbi from his father, who disapproved of his musical ambitions. But his love for music never faded.

Jassi shot to fame with ‘Dil Le Gayi Kudi’. Despite his pop success, he remains deeply connected to Punjabi culture. He spoke proudly of working with legends like Hans Raj Hans and Puran Shah Koti.

He also joked about Bollywood’s shallow portrayal of Punjabis. “Punjabis do have depth,” he said, taking a dig at stereotypes.

Theater played a big role in his growth. Collaborations with Harpal Tiwana and Gursharan Singh helped him refine his stage presence and diction post-MTV fame.

‘Dil Le Gayi’ defined his career, but his heart still beats for traditional Punjabi music. The charm of Heer remains his true love.
