Social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, known as Orry, and seven others were booked for consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. Katra is the base camp for pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
The local police received a complaint on March 15 about guests drinking alcohol on hotel premises, violating local rules. An FIR was filed against Orry and others for breaking the law and hurting religious sentiments.
As per officials, the hotel had clear instructions banning alcohol and non-vegetarian food due to its religious significance. Despite the rules, the group allegedly consumed liquor inside the property.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Paramvir Singh, ordered strict action against them. A police team is now working to arrest the accused to set an example of zero tolerance for such acts near religious places.
The incident has sparked outrage among locals and devotees, who see it as disrespectful to the religious site. Authorities have warned that strict measures will be taken to prevent similar violations in the future.
The accused have not yet commented on the matter, and investigations are ongoing. Police are determined to ensure that religious sanctity is maintained in the area.
