Hrithik Roshan Reflects on 25 Years of Stardom

Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan opened up about his journey in cinema as he approached 25 years since his debut in the blockbuster ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’. Despite the stardom, the actor revealed he is still as shy and anxious as he was back in 2000. The film, directed by his father Rakesh Roshan, is set to re-release in theaters on his 51st birthday this Friday.

Speaking at a media event on Tuesday, Hrithik shared that he avoids terms like “legacy” and “milestone” to describe his silver jubilee in the industry. “I’m not here to say, ‘25 years yeah.’ I’m just not doing that,” he said, bringing a refreshing humility to the conversation. His debut, which also marked Ameesha Patel’s acting start, became an iconic launchpad for his career.

Hrithik confessed he was so nervous during his first release that he skipped all promotional activities and interviews. Two and a half decades later, he admitted that part of his personality hasn’t changed much. “I’m still as shy, and just as anxious as always,” he added candidly. Yet, this hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of Bollywood’s finest actors over the years.

Following his debut, Hrithik starred in several hit films like ‘Dhoom 2’, ‘Jodha Akbar’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, and more recently, ‘War’ and ‘Vikram Vedha’. Fans and critics have lauded his performances, with multiple awards cementing his status as a leading man.

Hrithik credited his fans and the media for the growth he has experienced, both as an actor and a person. He acknowledged their role in shaping his career, saying, “Through all the interactions, questions, and answers, I have grown. You helped me search inside myself as to what kind of human I want to be.”
