Punjabi singer and Bollywood actor Harrdy Sandhu was detained by Chandigarh Police just before his performance at a fashion show in Sector 34. He was taken to the police station for performing without permission.
The organisers later presented the necessary permissions, and Sandhu was released. However, the incident left both the singer and the organisers upset.
Sources say Sandhu decided to leave without performing. The organisers of the fashion show remained unavailable for comments.
This comes after the UT Administration banned big live concerts at the Sector 34 ground. The rule came into effect after performances by Karan Aujla and Diljit Dosanjh in December last year.
Previously, AP Dhillon’s concert was also moved to Rally Ground in Sector 25 due to this restriction. The organisers had initially sought permission for Sector 34 but had to change venues.
The incident with Sandhu highlights ongoing confusion over event permissions in Chandigarh, affecting both artists and audiences.
