FIR Filed Against Stars Over 'Jaat' Scene; Apology Issued

An FIR has been filed against actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, and the crew of the movie ‘Jaat’ over a scene that upset members of the Christian community.

The complaint, filed in Jalandhar’s Sadar police station, claimed that the film disrespected Jesus Christ by showing a character standing near a crucifix inside a church.

Police have booked the actors, director Gopichand Malineni, and producer Neveen Melineni under a section related to hurting religious sentiments.

The film’s makers responded quickly. They said the controversial scene had been removed and offered an apology.

“We didn’t mean to offend anyone,” the filmmakers said. “We’ve cut the scene and are sorry to those hurt.”

‘Jaat’ released on April 11 and had drawn backlash after viewers spotted the offending scene in a prayer setting.

The issue has sparked debate online, with some supporting the community’s concerns and others calling for freedom in art.
