Fans of Chris Hemsworth’s character Tyler Rake in Netflix’s first Extraction movie can rejoice as the first trailer for Extraction 2 is out now, promising an even more action-packed storyline. In the first movie, Tyler Rake, a black ops mercenary, had taken on a deadly mission to rescue the family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from a prison where they were held captive. At the end of the film, he was presumed dead, but in the sequel, he is revealed to have survived and is back for another mission.
The trailer shows Hemsworth’s character using a riot shield to beat people in a prison break scene, deflecting a fiery molotov cocktail, and punching rioters with his burning fist. Director Sam Hargrave is returning to direct the sequel, along with producers Anthony and Joe Russo. The cast includes Golshifteh Farahani, Adam Bessa, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili.
The first Extraction movie, released in April 2020, became an instant hit, setting records as the most-watched original film premiere in Netflix’s history. It was streamed in 99 million households in the first four weeks of its release and was the most-streamed title during its debut weekend. Extraction ended up as the fourth most-watched streaming film of 2020.
Extraction 2 is set to release on Netflix on June 16. With the trailer teasing an even more intense action-filled storyline, it looks like Hemsworth’s character Tyler Rake will continue to enthrall audiences in this sequel.
