A former employee of rapper Eminem is facing legal trouble for leaking the artiste’s unreleased tracks online. Joseph Strange, who worked for Eminem from 2007 to 2021, has been charged with criminal copyright infringement and transporting stolen goods.
The case surfaced after an employee at Eminem’s Ferndale, Michigan studio noticed the rapper’s unreleased music for sale on different websites. The FBI was called in to investigate after the music was traced back to a stolen hard drive.
Authorities tracked down the buyers, which led them straight to Strange as the seller of the leaked tracks. The stolen songs were reportedly still in progress when they appeared online.
If convicted, Strange could face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for copyright infringement. The second charge of interstate transportation of stolen goods could land him up to 10 years in jail.
Meanwhile, Eminem remains active in the music world. His most recent album, ‘The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace),’ earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.
His hit song ‘Houdini’ also received nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Music Video. Despite legal troubles surrounding his music, Eminem continues to dominate the industry.
