Dancer From Riteish Deshmukh’s Film Drowns in Krishna River

A 26-year-old dancer working on Riteish Deshmukh’s movie ‘Raja Shivaji’ tragically drowned in the Krishna river in Maharashtra’s Satara district, police reported on Thursday. The dancer, Saurabh Sharma, went missing on Tuesday evening after film shooting ended for the day.

The team was filming in Sangam Mahuli, a village where the Krishna and Venna rivers meet, around 250 km from Mumbai. After a colorful song shoot, Sharma went to wash his hands and then decided to take a swim in the river.

Unfortunately, strong currents swept him away. Rescue teams, including police and local organizations, were called in quickly and launched a search.

The operation had to be paused on Tuesday night due to poor light but resumed the next morning. Despite an entire day of searching, Sharma wasn’t found.

It was only on Thursday morning around 7:30 am that his body was finally recovered. Police have registered an accidental death case and are investigating the matter further.

‘Raja Shivaji’ is a big project for Riteish Deshmukh, as he is not just acting but also directing the film. The movie tells the story of the legendary Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
