A Mumbai court has ordered a police inquiry into a complaint against film and TV producer Ekta Kapoor. The complaint accuses her web series of disrespecting Indian soldiers.
The Bandra magistrate’s court has asked the police to submit a report by May 9. The complaint was filed under Section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which allows a magistrate to investigate or direct police to do so.
YouTuber Vikas Pathak, known as ‘Hindustani Bhau,’ filed the complaint. It names Ekta Kapoor, her OTT platform Alt Balaji, and her parents, Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor.
The complaint claims that a web series on Alt Balaji showed a military officer in an “illicit sexual act.” It alleges the scene insulted the Indian Army uniform and the national emblem.
The complainant calls this a shameless attack on the dignity and pride of Indian soldiers. He demands legal action against the accused.
The police will now investigate the claims and submit their findings. Ekta Kapoor has not yet responded to the complaint.
