Chhorii Changed Everything for Nushrratt Bharuccha

Nushrratt Bharuccha says her role in the 2021 horror film Chhorii completely changed how people see her. Known for light-hearted films, the actress found a new direction in her career after this intense thriller.

She admits she didn’t chase these roles. After Chhorii, female-led movies like Janhit Mein Jaari and Akelli just came her way. It was as if the industry suddenly saw her in a new light.

Chhorii, a remake of the Marathi movie Lapachhapi, tells the spooky story of a pregnant woman haunted by dark spirits. Nushrratt believes this film gave her acting opportunities unlike anything she’s done before.

The sequel to Chhorii drops on April 11 on Prime Video. It will pick up right where the first one ended, bringing back familiar characters and throwing in some new chills.

Nushrratt explains how difficult this role was both mentally and physically. Playing a woman eight months pregnant and under supernatural attack was like nothing she had ever faced.

She said the experience pushed her as an actor in ways she never imagined. For someone used to comedy and romance roles, Chhorii was a game-changer—and it shows.
