Chandrika Tandon Wins Grammy for 'Triveni'

Indian-American singer Chandrika Tandon won a Grammy for her album ‘Triveni’ in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category. She beat strong contenders like Ricky Kej and Anoushka Shankar.

She shared the award with her collaborators – South African flautist Wouter Kellerman and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto. The competition included albums by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Radhika Vekaria.

The Consulate General of India in New York congratulated Chandrika on their official X account. Chandrika is also the sister of former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.

Meanwhile, a controversy arose as Indian tabla maestro Zakir Hussain was missing from the ‘In Memoriam’ tribute at the 67th Grammy Awards. Fans were outraged over this apparent snub.

Zakir Hussain, a four-time Grammy winner, has made immense contributions to Indian and global music. His exclusion sparked criticism towards the organizers.

Despite the controversy, Indian artists continued to shine on the global stage, with Chandrika’s Grammy win being a proud moment for the community.
