Chandigarh Art Show Brings Nature to Canvas

Chandigarh’s Government Museum and Art Gallery is hosting ‘Rooted Reflections,’ an art exhibition celebrating nature. The showcase features the work of Pardeep Singh, an artist trained at Shantiniketan, Kolkata.

Singh’s paintings capture the beauty of local trees across seasons. Using vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes, he brings to life the golden amaltas, pink bougainvillea, and crimson gulmohar on canvas.

The exhibition, curated by Gurpreet and Munish Jauhar, is the first solo show at the city’s AIM gallery. The curators describe it as “nature’s poetry in motion,” reflecting the deep connection between Chandigarh and its greenery.

Singh draws inspiration from Van Gogh and Monet, blending impressionist and modern styles. His work leans towards abstraction rather than realism, using natural colors to capture the essence of landscapes.

Beyond art, the event highlights the importance of preserving nature. Discussions on urban green spaces and climate change were part of the showcase, making it more than just a visual treat.

Adding another creative touch, a poetry performance by climate poet Parneet Kaur was a highlight. The exhibition runs until March 2, from 11 AM to 6 PM, offering visitors an artistic escape into nature.
