Bollywood is grieving the loss of iconic makeup artist Vikram Gaikwad, who passed away on Saturday at 61. He was briefly hospitalized in Mumbai due to blood pressure complications.
Gaikwad was a legend in Indian cinema, known for his work in blockbuster films like ’83’, ‘Uri’, ‘Dangal’ and ‘PK’. He also won National Awards for his work in ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Jaatishwar’.
Actor Aamir Khan called him a “true master” and remembered how Gaikwad transformed his look in films like ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Dangal’. He said Gaikwad’s work created unforgettable characters.
Varun Dhawan said working with him on ‘Badlapur’ was an honor, calling him “a true magician”. Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, and Parineeti Chopra also paid tribute, calling him a gentle soul with genius-level talent.
Sonam Kapoor thanked Gaikwad for shaping her characters in ‘Delhi-6’ and ‘Mausam’. Anushka Sharma and many others in the industry offered their prayers and condolences.
With decades of experience across Hindi, Marathi, and South Indian films, Vikram Gaikwad was more than just a makeup artist—he was a storyteller. His legacy will live on through the characters he helped bring to life on screen.
