BJP Leader Slams Rapper Vedan Over Song Dissing PM Modi

A BJP leader from Palakkad has filed a complaint against rapper Vedan, accusing him of disrespecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a public performance. The leader, VS Minimol, claims the rapper’s lyrics could stir caste tensions and promote hate.

Minimol, who is a municipal councillor, has written to the Union Home Ministry and the NIA requesting immediate action. She said Vedan’s song includes direct mentions of ‘Modi’ and contains language that defames the Prime Minister.

She believes that Vedan’s performance crosses the line of freedom of expression and harms the image of the country’s top office. She also pointed to a past drug-related arrest involving the rapper, raising questions about his public influence.

Despite being on bail, Vedan continues to perform to large crowds, which the BJP leader sees as dangerous. She wants the rapper booked under various IPC sections including defamation and promoting enmity.

Hindu Aikyavedi leader KP Sasikala also lashed out, saying Vedan’s stage presence and music style were offensive and questioned its relevance to SC/ST communities. This added fuel to the fire.

Vedan hit back, saying these criticisms are attempts to silence him for being different. He defended his art, saying rap is his voice—because classical music isn’t an option for him.

As of now, Vedan has not received any official notice, but the controversy shows no signs of cooling.
