A tragic accident struck Kandivali east in Mumbai early Saturday when Marathi actor Urmila Kothare’s car collided with two workers.
One worker lost his life, while another sustained serious injuries, police confirmed.
Kothare and her driver were also hurt in the crash but were saved by the timely deployment of airbags. The incident happened after Kothare wrapped up her film shoot and was headed home, officials added.
The car reportedly lost control due to speeding, slamming into laborers who were working on the Metro rail project near the Poisar station. A case has been registered against the driver, and investigations are ongoing.
Urmila Kothare, known for her roles in movies like Marathi hit “Duniyadari” and Bollywood film “Thank God,” is yet to comment on the incident.
This unfortunate event has once again raised concerns about reckless driving and safety on Mumbai roads.
