Dr Ranjana Malik: A Life of Strength and Service

Dr Ranjana Malik sees Women’s Day as a time to celebrate strong, empowered women. An Army Captain in the 60s, she later spent 20 years with ONGC before retiring early to support her husband, Gen VP Malik (Retd).

Known as the ‘saree queen,’ Dr Malik is a passionate reader, an excellent cook, and an avid traveller. She hosts multiple events, including the Retired Defence Officers’ Wives’ Association and gatherings for local workers in her community.

Her leadership skills shone as head of the Army Wives Welfare Association during the Kargil War. She ensures that the sacrifices of Veer Naris (war widows) are honored and continues to support them and their families.

Firm in her beliefs, she stresses that Army wives should not be seen as victims but as strong individuals. Personal connections keep her motivated, and she believes in staying humble in interactions with people.

Despite medical concerns, she remains active both physically and socially. She believes in keeping the mind and body engaged to maintain a positive outlook on life.

Dr Malik’s message is clear—women must be educated and self-reliant to contribute to society’s greater good. She continues to inspire with her dedication to social causes and community welfare.
