Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has taken the internet by storm with the first look of his highly anticipated film, ‘Punjab ‘95’. The actor, who’s already rocking stages with his Dil-Luminati tour, shared the photos on Instagram last Saturday. His caption, ‘I Challenge the Darkness. Punjab 95,’ has fans buzzing.
The pictures reveal Diljit in a raw, intense avatar. One image shows him sitting on the floor, bloodied and bruised, sporting a simple kurta and turban. The look exudes pain and determination, leaving viewers intrigued.
The movie is based on the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra, a renowned human rights activist. In another photo, Diljit, as Khalra, is seen with two children, giving a tender glimpse into the activist’s personal side. The story promises to showcase Khalra’s inspiring yet heartbreaking journey.
Khalra was a bank director in Amritsar during Punjab’s turbulent times in the 1980s. Amidst allegations of staged police encounters and mass cremations, he bravely investigated these atrocities and sought justice. His efforts came at great personal risk, adding layers of tension to the film’s narrative.
Reportedly, the film initially faced hurdles with the Central Board of Film Certification, which demanded 120 cuts, citing the sensitive storyline. Yet, with Diljit’s growing global fame, the film now appears set to release, thrilling fans worldwide.
On another note, Diljit recently met India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, sparking speculation about upcoming collaborations or discussions. With ‘Punjab ‘95’ on the horizon, it seems like Diljit’s star power is truly unstoppable.
